Mufakkir-e-Islam Pir Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani on Bukhari and Imams of Ahlul Bayt

It is reported that the great Imam of hadith, in fact the ameer ul mumineen fil hadeeth, Imam Bukhari went through all the important centers of Islamic learning of his time, talked to scholars and exchanged information on hadith. It is said that he heard from over 1,000 men, and learned over 600,000 traditions, both authentic and rejected ones. This shows his commitment to collecting the beautiful acts of the Beloved Prophet (s.a.a.w).

It is reported by Imam Muslim and Imam Tirmizi that the Prophet (s.a.a.w) said: "I m leaving among you something which is very important and should be followed, you will not go astray if you get hold of it after I am gone, one part of it being more important than the other: Allah's Book, which is a rope stretched from Heaven to Earth, and my close relatives, who belong to my household. These two will not separate from one another till they come down to the reservoir, so consider how you act regarding them after my departure." (Tirmidhi, Sahih Muslim)

This hadith shows that one should take the deen from the noble household of Rasoolullah. This has been practiced by our great scholars such as Imam Abu Hanifah, who studied under the great imams of ahl ul bait; Imam Baqir, Imam Jafar Alsadiq, Imam Zaid etc. I n fact he valued his tutelage under Imam Jafar Al Sadiq to such an extent that he used to proclaim;

لو لا السنتان لهلك النعمان

Had it not been for the two year (he studied under Imam Jafar) N’uman (Abu Hanifah) would have perished!!

The great Imam also affiliated himself to every cause of the Ahlul Bait in his life time. Here we have the best example of tamassuk (adherence) to the ahl ul bait as required by the above hadith.

In Sahih Bukhari you will find that Imam Bukhari did not take narrations from the Imams of Ahlul bait. In Bukhari you will find narrators from all backgrounds and creeds, you will have mu’tazili narrators, shia narrators, khawarij narrators, rafizi narrators, in fact you will find a narrator who used to believe that the Prophet’s body decomposed after his death, and this decomposition began within the time his body was left unburied for three days!! (Astaghfirullah) BUT what you will NOT find is a narration from IMAM JA’FAR ALSADIQ! Imam Bukhari narrates from the students of Imam Ja’far Al Sadiq, such as Sufyan Bin Uyainah, Aban Bin Taghlab, Sufyan Thauri etc but any chain of narration which has the name of Imam J’afar himself does not seem to warrant a place in Bukhari!! Hence Ibn Ammad Hanbali states: لم يخرج له البخاري و قد وثقه ابن معين و ابن عدى

Even though Ibn Addi and Ibn Mueen have authenticated Imam J’afar Al Sadiq Bukhari did not take any narration from him!! (I say: Even though Imam J’afar Al Sadiq is not in need of authentication by Ibn Mueen and Ibn Addi!!)

Then if you analyze the life of Imam Bukhari (may Allah be pleased with him and give him the highest rank in paradise) you will find that Imam Bukhari lived in the time of four Imams of Ahl ul Bait:

· Imam Ali Raza (as) (passes away away in 208 AH).

That great Imam of hadith from whom, at one time over 20000 Muhaditheen took hadith and received ijazah!

· Imam Muhammad Bin Ali Taqi (as) (220 AH)

· Imam Ali Bin Muhammad Naqi (as) (245 AH)

· Imam Hasan Bin Ali Askari as (260 AH)

Yet there is not one narration from these noble Imams of the household of Rasoolullah, the flowers from the garden of the chief of all women of paradise Alfatimah Alzahra (sa), the princess of the gate to the city of knowledge. This is probably why this treatment has been termed as step motherly!!

On top of that Bukhari did not only ignore the Ahlul Bayt but
a severe critique by Imam Bukhari was lashed at Imam Abu Hanifa
These are historical facts and have only been bought in the public domain because in this day and age of ignorance people are making sweeping statements against the most noble of all the scholars.

My dear brothers and sisters remember who the Ahl ul Bait of Rasoolullah are, never forget your duty towards them and never let anyone undermine your affiliation to them, for this is the key to salvation. Worry not about the tormentors, for if Imam Shafiee (ra) could not escape their persecution then who are we? hum kiss bagh ki mooli hain!!! Eventually he had to say;

إن كان رفضاً حب آل محمد فليشهد الثقلان أني رافضي

If love for the Aale Muhammad is rifdh, then let all bear witness that Shafi’ee is a Rafidhi!

Despite all of the above, the teaching of Huzoor Mufakire Islam as you will find in his numerous lectures is that we value the wonderful contribution of Imam Bukhari to science of Hadith and will remain indebted to him for his hard work. To ridicule this great scholar of the Muslim world (hz Mufakire Islam) for his willingness to express genuine historical facts is the travesty of our times. May Allah enable us to benefit from his works. May Allah guide us along the path of moderation, free from deficiency and excess. Aameen.
